Jonah had a rough day 4. Most of the issues came not from his heart surgery post-op stuff, but from a virus he’s picked up from Zeke. He tested positive for the rotavirus, which is a stomach virus that causes vomiting and diarrhea. With an empty stomach and nothing to move the virus out, he began to have massive stomach cramping and threw up a bit. They were able to get his feeding started again overnight, and he is doing very well with it now.
All of his drainage tubes have now been removed along with another one of his lines that they were using for blood draws. He seems to be in the “I’m done with this place” mood today. Not crying or complaining or moving around, just giving me a look like he’s a little bit mad at me for bringing him in this place.
They are planning on moving him out of the CVICU today (Saturday), which is the next step in getting out of here. Hopefully we’ll be discharged early this coming week. I think a lot of it will depend on how he is doing with the virus he caught. Everything pertaining to his heart surgery seems to be in order. His wound from where they opened him up is looking good, and he doesn’t seem to be in any discomfort with it.
