Well yesterday Jonah was sedated all day and just resting up. He did get his breathing tube removed, but he wasn’t a huge fan of the process. Then they replaced it with a cannula, which he seems to still not have taken a liking too. Also the fact that the size of the one they gave him was for an adult didn’t help. But things are looking great, and I know he’s happy to be able to smack those lips together again.
Today during the doctor rounds they decided to start letting him wake up. They began weaning him off the meds that made him drowsy and has been off them since around lunch time. It’s good to see those beautiful blue eyes again! No smiles yet, but I know that’s right around the corner. They also may be pulling out the drain tubes from his chest and the lines for the pace maker. So he’ll just have a couple of wires still protruding from his body which are the ports to give him meds in his neck and the port to draw blood in his leg.
He’s in the middle of his first post-surgery bottle right now and is doing pretty good. I think he is happy to get that nasty taste out of his mouth!
Enjoy the pics from today and yesterday:
